That's preposterous!

I found this MSN article today. It's rather stupifying if you ask me. Take a gander for yourself...
Basically, a young girl took her first communion in the Catholic church. Because of a digestive disorder, she had to take it with a ::::gasp:::: rice wafer instead of a wheat wafer. Therefore, the Church has declared the communion null and void.

What tha???

Such an outright display of how the Catholic church has become so steeped in legalism and tradition!! Where in the Holy Bible does it say that the communion meal must be eaten with unleavened wheat?? I thought it was a symbolic gesture of the presence of Christ in a believer's life, but obviously what's more important is the substance used. argh!

I'm not trying to be Catholic basher... I'm not absolving the Protestant Church of getting involved in minor details either... In fact, I think the whole entity of the Church today acts as if it has lost the whole vision of why Christ established it in the first place.

Anyway, I'm off my soapbox.
